Our Core Beliefs

The Bible

We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments in their entirety, to be the verbally inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original writing, the complete revelation of His will for the glory of God, and preserved by God throughout the ages to be the Divine and final authority for all faith and life. (Mark 12:26,36; Acts 1:16; Rom 15:4; 2 Tim 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21)

God
We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinite, perfect, and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Mark 12:29; John 1:14; Acts 5:3,4; 2 Cor 13:4; Heb 1:1-3; Rev 1:4-6)

Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate.  We believe that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross as a sacrifice for sins, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended into heaven where He serves as our Mediator and Intercessor with the Father until He returns at the end of this age. (Heb 1:1-3; 2 Cor 13:14; John 1:14; Mark 12:19)

The Holy Spirit
We believe that the present ministry of the Holy Spirit is to reveal the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ; to convict individuals of sin; to regenerate the sinner unto faith and repentance; and to indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service. (John 14:16,17, 16:7-15; 1 Cor 6:19; Eph 2:22; 2 Thes 2:7)

Mankind
We believe that man was created in the image of God and that his subsequent willful sin resulted in physical and spiritual death and in the necessity of a new birth for salvation. (Gen 1:26, 2:17, 6:5; Ps 14:1-3, 51:5; Jer 17:9; Rom 3:10-19, 8:6-7; Eph 2:1-3; 1 Tim 5:6; 1 John 3:8)

Salvation
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for salvation; that salvation is by God’s grace alone, complete and eternal; and that it is only as one believes in and receives Christ through personal faith, validated by a life of obedience in Him, that a person can be assured that he or she is born of the Holy Spirit and a child of God. (Lev 17:11; Isa 64:6; Matt 26:28; John 3:7-18; Rom 5:6-9; 2 Cor 5:21; Gal 3:13, 6:15; Eph 1:7; Phil 3:4-9; Titus 3:5; Jas 1:18; 1 Pet 1:18-23)

Ordinances
We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordinances to be observed by the church during the present age. Immersion shall be encouraged, though not required of believers coming from another church; however, the normal practice of this church will be immersion. The Lord's Supper is shared during our worship service on the first Sunday of each month. (Matt 28:19; Luke 22:19,20; Acts 10:47,48, 16:32,33, 18:7,8; 1 Cor 11:26)

The Church
We believe that the church universal is composed of all persons who have been born again through saving faith in Jesus Christ and have therefore become members of the body of Christ of which He is the head.  Furthermore, we believe that the local church should be the visible expression and should fulfill the purpose of the church universal in the world; that is the edification of the saints and the glory of God. (Matt 16:16-18; Acts 2:42-47; Rom 12:5; 1 Cor 12:12-27; Eph 1:20-23, 4:3-10; Col 3:14,15)

The Return of Jesus Christ
We believe in the imminent, bodily return of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this expectation should encourage the believer to lead a godly and fruitful life.  (John 14:1-3; 1 Cor 15:51,52; Phil 3:20; 1 Thes 14:13-18; Titus 2:11-14)

Judgment and Eternal Life
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and eternal life in the presence of God, and of the unbeliever to judgment and eternal punishment apart from God. (Luke 16:19-26, 23:42; 2 Cor 5:8; Phil 1:23; 2 Thes 1:7-9; Jude 6,7; Rev 20:11-15)
